JUST A THOUGHT |
When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. The movement becomes headlong - faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thoughts of obstacles and forget that a precipice does not show itself to the man in a blind rush till it is too late.
Frank Herbert (Dune, P441)
"I trust God speaks through me. Without that, I couldn't do my job."-- President Bush, quoted during a private meeting with an Amish group.
In a "major break with British traditions that religion and government should not mix", according to The Observer, he has appointed a religious body, representing Christian and other faith groups, as high-power advisory committee to the British Government. The "Faith Community Liaison Group" is part of the Home Office. Its sphere of influence includes officially the Department of Education, Culture, Media, Sport, Trade and Industry." |

-
Surely that should read "speaks to his lil' imaginary 'son' Jesus" shouldn't it a rose is a rose? After all he does think he's God doesn't he?
-

Doesn't Bush look like he's trying to turn that cross behind him into a swaztika?
-
Well, I think the Baby Jesus is going to have something to say about THAT!
-
I think Jesus might have been being sarcastic to george when he told him to let the neocons run his foreign policy. goddammit i wish george could pick up on sarcasm.

lew- well spotted!
graeme - they always say over here that americans don't get irony. My experience (from the web) is that this is for the most part nonsense.
but then you look at some of the right wing sites and...

OK, education, culture, media, and sport. Check, check, check, check. Makes sense to me.
But trade and industry? Come on. It must be obvious to even the Prime Minister that those two are traffic in "the Devil's business".

This is my attempt at a video for the excellent, if worrying, David Rovics (see links) song

Arse of the month |
The inaugural 'Arse of the month' award goes to our very own Scottish First Minister Jack (Joke) McConnell. He seems to spend a lot of his time sucking up to english politicians and yet it appears they don't even know his name. Follow the link to see..
