ANOTHER BITES THE DUST
I have been reading quite deeply into and looking at a lot of zoology lately and related topics lately. I can't recomment a book y Richard Dawkins called "The Blind Watchmaker" highly enough.

I also noticed this today..

The black rhino is now extinct

If you want a bit of cheering up about that then look at this amazing little video clip which shows you just how interesting the animals that we seem determined to kill off can really be....

excellent post ... the place I just moved from ... there was a northen mocking bird that did a very good car alarm ... he had a really good repertoire of local birds, from cardinals to gulls, to jays ... but this bird in the video is a genius of mimicry ... very cool ... as to extinctions ... it's incredible how many other species homo sapiens is obliterating through greed, stupidity and overpopulation and its corallary problems ... gotta fight to preserve endangered species every day ... speak out, educate ... right on micheal

animal planet has a series called 'growing up..............'. they had wolves and zebra and a bunch of other animals.

the growing up rhino one was WONDERFUL! it's hard to imagine creatures that are several hundred pounds being babies but they are

there were both black and white (same color though, it's the shape of them that make them black or white, not the color?????) ones. so someone is watching out for them. although, it may indeed be too late

Michael: I've also posted today about the rhino and lyrebird. Thanks for sharing these links with me. One profoundly sad, one...well. I was so amazed by the lyrebird that I simply couldn't believe it. I had to search the web to make sure this wasn't a hoax. Astonishing.

Mindblowingly, horrendously awful that we've managed to kill off every last Western Black Rhino on the planet. I saw wild (really wild, not bullshit gamepark safari wild) White Rhinos in off in a field in South Africa last summer---an incredible sight. There's a few more of them around but I'm sure we can manage to annihilate them too. In just a few years in Iraq we've done in many times more human babies. And then there's the one single wild example of a Grizzly-Polar bear that we summarily executed earlier this year.

As consolation we now have birds with goddamn car alarms as mating calls.

I'm not gonna be satisfied until that goddamned lyrebird can sing me the theme music for American Idol. But that's just me...

I noticed you posted about the Lyrebird, I was interested in searching on it as well. I also saw this on YouTube. Go to this link and look at the comments. Someone claims its a hoax, but who is to say they are even telling the truth.

The inaugural 'Arse of the month' award goes to our very own Scottish First Minister Jack (Joke) McConnell. He seems to spend a lot of his time sucking up to english politicians and yet it appears they don't even know his name. Follow the link to see..
