WHAT DO YOU THINK? |
We've probably seen all these photos a hundred times but what I want to know is if people think he is genuinely an idiot and Cheney and Rumsfeld et al really run the show or if they think it's just a matter of not being any good at public speaking. I have never been able to make my mind up. What do you think?....
p.s. I am not responsible for the spelling errors in the first photo. I didn't make it.

I don't think he's an idiot (and I believe the bottom two images are doctored). He, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld and, for that matter, Clinton, Gore, Kerry, etc. all reached positions of "importance" by internalizing certain values. Some are better than others at articulating those values but, in the end, I feel they all think alike.
-
Yes and no. It depends on what you mean by idiot. I certainly think he is capable of reasoning, it's just that some of the bases from which he starts lead to bad outcomes.
For example, the decision to go to war in Iraq was a bad decision, but it was the logical decision if you believed God put you in the whitehouse to deal with the Arabs.
Make sense?

Bush isn't Einstein. That much is clear. I doubt he's as stupid as some (most?) people have suggested, but he's probably at best average. Like Mickey said, he's internalised the appropriate value system and been able to recite it as neccesary.
Whatever the truth about Bush I think its clear that the people behind him (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice etc.) are very clever. They too have internalised the value system and have been very good about implementing it.
Laughing at "Monkey Boy" may amuse liberals (small 'l', in the UK sense), but it doesn't exactly threaten the system does it? It isn't gonna make the war end any quicker or help solve climate change.
That said, I'm all for cultivating a healthy contempt for our so-called leaders.

I'm not sure idiot is the right word. There are words for what he is but none of them are really accurate. We may have to invent one.

thanks for the thoughts. i stll just can't tell. i am sure he has a certain cunning nut some of the things he says....

My 2 cents:
You give us two frightening possibilities. Either George W. Bush has, as Mickey and others have said, developed a deplorable value system, or he is a puppet. I suppose I'd rather assume he's a keen "bady guy" (like the rest of the brilliant criminals in his Administration). If he is a puppet--and many people I know think this is the case--then we have a system in which that position can be totally hijacked. The opinion in the States at the moment seems to be that it's all Cheney's fault. Last spring it was all Donny Pentagon's fault. Hm.
But either way, I'm not too into the monkey boy jokes, given the severity of what Bush has either cooked up himself or happily presided over. Dolt or not, he's definitely accountable for a heaping shitload of serious crimes.

Arse of the month |
The inaugural 'Arse of the month' award goes to our very own Scottish First Minister Jack (Joke) McConnell. He seems to spend a lot of his time sucking up to english politicians and yet it appears they don't even know his name. Follow the link to see..
